AAP government has no confidence in officials: BJP

BJP president Manoj Tiwari termed the directive as veiled threats to pressurise administrative officials to submit to its dictates.

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta on Tuesday said that the order of the AAP government directing its bureaucrats not to take any decision without the approval of the minister concerned or the chief minister clearly establishes the government’s complete lack of faith in the head of the government i.e. lieutenant-governor. He said: “It also proves its failure to control, motivate and manage the IAS and DANICS lobby. In fact, this is culmination of the two and –a- half year journey of distrust between the Arvind Kejriwal government and its officers.”

According to Mr Gupta, the government took the stringent step of taming officers through the ‘Petition Committee’ of the Assembly because of its lack of confidence and their inability to win their goodwill and faith. He said the government has now found itself in the soup.“The earlier governments had never given such a directive,” added Mr Gupta.

Condemning the decision, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari termed the directive as veiled threats to pressurize the administrative officials to submit to its dictates. ”It is shameful that the Kejriwal government is trying to raise controversy over administrative work by officials despite the fact that both the Delhi high court and the central government have sternly told it to work by constitutional provisions wherein the lieutenant-governor of Delhi is the administrative authority in most matters,” said Mr Tiwari.

Mr Tiwari has asked the Kejriwal government to stop creating a ruckus over administrative provisions and threatening government officials. He asked Mr Kejriwal to concentrate on public welfare works. Mr Gupta, claimed that the directive from the government will throttle the bureaucracy and make them dysfunctional.
