3 held for supplying illicit liquor in Bindapur
New Delhi: With the arrest of three persons, the Delhi police crime branch has busted a gang who was involved in supply of illicit liquor, which tampers the label of the liquor bottle, by affixing fresh label declaring it to be liquor for canteen stores department (CSD) supply.
Total 66 cartoons of illicit liquor with Army canteen label 612 sheets of fake Army canteen labels along with fake Barcode have also been recovered from their possession.
The accused identified as Ravinder Singh (47) and Dharampal Dharmu and Pawan Kumar Gilhotra, who tempered the label.
Police received a tip that a gang is supplying illicit liquor in Delhi, by tampering their and pasting new label making them liquor for CSD supply, is active in Bindapur area.
One supplier Ravinder Singh, who is a notorious criminal and has been arrested earlier in the cases under Excise Acy would come near Ravivar Bazaar Chowk to supply the illicit liquor. If raid is conducted he can be apprehended and a huge quantity of illicit liquor can be recovered from his possession. On this information a team was constituted was constituted to nab the criminal. The Crime Branch team laid a trap near Ravivar Bazaar Chowk, Bindapur area the accused Ravinder Singh Bhullar was successfully apprehended. One Santro car loaded with 9 cartoons of illicit liquor (Royal Stag and Blenders Pride) was found from his possession.
During interrogation, accused Ravinder Singh disclosed that this liquor belongs to Dharampal and Pawan Kumar, who are partners in the illicit trade. Further, on the
directions of both he used to supply this liquor. He further disclosed that they have a godown in the nearby area in which they have stored in several cartoons of the illicit liquor. Further at the same place they used to temper the label. This was done to enhance the acceptability of the army alcohol is considered to be genuine and they are easily sold and the return is handsome.
“On the instance of apprehended accused Ravinder Singh a search was conducted at the nearby godown. Total 612 sheets of fake labels and Barcode lable along with 57 cartoons of illicit liquor of several brands of Royal Stag, Black Dog, 100 Piper, Blenders Pride etc were recovered. Local enquiry was made and it was revealed that the said premise is being used by one Dharampal and Pammi, who too have been arrested. They have admitted their crime and as per previous record they have found involved in similar crime earlier. The facts as disclosed by the accused are being verified., said Rajesh Delhi, DCP crime (ISC).
