New Delhi: With the Assembly election results in Haryana not matching up to the expectations of BJP, the party’s Delhi unit head Manoj Tiwari has started trying to woo voters in the jhuggi clusters by spending a night with them on Thursday in Mayur Vihar.

The saffron party, which was reduced to just three of the 70 Assembly seats in the 2015 state elections, is now leaving no stone unturned to please slum voters who play a decisive role in over a dozen seats in the city.

According to a party insider, after witnessing unfavourable early trends of the Assembly polls on Thursday, Mr Tiwari and the Delhi BJP leadership went into hurdle and discussed its impact in the forthcoming Assembly polls in the city.

It is learnt that it was a hurriedly taken decision that Mr Tiwari should hit the street to reach out to the citizens and restart his night stay in the slum cluster.

Since taking over as president of the Delhi BJP in November 2016, Mr Tiwari has spent 21 nights with the residents of the slum cluster in almost three years. During his stay, Mr Tiwari interacts with the residents and tries to address their concerns.
