Sirsa: Bid to portray Sikhs in bad light
New Delhi: The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Saturday said that chairman of the governing body of Dyal Singh College, Amitabh Sinha, is trying to portray Sikhs as anti nationalists with his pseudo nationalism slogans.
Mr Sirsa said that it was strange that we are opposing attempts to erase the legacy of national visionary leader Dyal Singh Majithia but Mr Sinha is presenting the case otherway round. “Never we in general or he himself in particular have opposed Vande Matram but we have opposed renaming the college from Dyal Singh College. Real issue is not name of Vande Matram but attempts to erase his name and his legacy,” Mr Sirsa added.
Mr Sirsa mentioned that when Dyal Singh Majithia had donated his wealth for construction of such great institution, this donation was not aimed for a particular community but it was aimed at nation building. ”Sensing his failure in making an excuse on the renaming issue, Mr Sinha has now started raising it as an issue of Vande Matram. It is pseudo nationalism of Mr Sinha which is driving his egoistic stand and he is not understanding the gravity of the situation where all peace loving nationalists are feeling deeply hurt at attempts to erase name of a nationalist leader,” he said.
