Kejriwal govt has failed to check pollution in 4 yrs, claims Vijender Gupta

He has asked the government to answer what concrete steps it has taken to control pollution in the last four years.

NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta on Tuesday alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal government has completely failed to control pollution.

Mr Gupta said that the government has done nothing to solve the problem of pollution. He has asked the government to answer what concrete steps it has taken to control pollution in the last four years.

Mr Gupta said that launch of “Tree-Plantation Drive, rejuvenation of lakes, buying 3,000 new buses are only announcements made in the air. Approval of new sections of Delhi Metro has also been delayed by the Delhi government for four years”

According to Mr Gupta, Mr Kejriwal did not even follow the directions of the National Green Tribunal for which a fine of Rs 50 crore was imposed on the Delhi government by this tribunal.

“His (Mr Kejriwal) government has done nothing other than doing drama on implementing odd-even for vehicles. The claims on implementing Green Budget are also hollow. Only a nominal amount has been spent to reduce pollution out of crores of rupees collected in the name of environmental compensation cess from commercial vehicles entering Delhi,” Mr Gupta added.
