Delhi enveloped by dense fog on Republic Day
New Delhi: People travelling to Rajpath to watch the Republic Day parade had to drive through dense fog Friday morning in the national capital where the mercury settled at 18.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below season’s average.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 7 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
According to the MeT department, the visibility was recorded 100 metres at 5.30 am which further dipped below 50 metres at 8.30 am.
The humidity oscillated between 100 and 66 per cent throughout the day and the weatherman has forecast dense fog in the morning on Saturday.
“The skies will remain clear. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover around seven degrees and 19°C respectively,” a MeT official said.
On Thursday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 18.4 and 8.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
