General secretary pulls up Delhi BJP for not forming block teams
New Delhi: On the first day of his three-day “pravas” in the national capital, BJP national general secretary Anil Jain has pulled up the city unit for not forming teams at “mandal” (block) level as directed by party president Amit Shah.
According to a senior Delhi BJP leader, Dr Jain, while interacting with office-bearers on Thurs-day, asked whether teams were formed in all the 280 blocks.
“To Dr Jain’s surprise, several morchas and departments told him that they have yet to form the teams,” he said.
Sources claimed that visibly unhappy with the reply, Dr Jain asked them to complete the formation of teams at all levels by February 11.
A party leader, present in the meeting, told this newspaper that during his two-day pravas in July last year, Mr Shah had directed party leadership to ensure formation of teams of office-bearers at state, district, and block levels by September.
“At the time of Mr Shah’s visit to the city unit, several morcha had not formed its state team of office-bearers. After learning about it, Mr Shah directed the state leadership to ensure the formation of morchas at all levels by the end of September,” he added.
The non-formation of teams of office bearers at the ground levels, despite Mr Shah’s clear instructions, miffed Dr Jain.
“Dr Jain was visibly unhappy and asked the reason for not following the party president’s instr-uction. After he failed to get a satisfactory reply, Dr Jain directed the completion of the formation of teams of office-bearers by February 11,” said a Delhi BJP office-bearer.
Sources said that favouritism and lack of consensus among state leadership and morcha or department head is the reason for delay in the formation of teams at block and district levels.
“After being pulled up by the party national general secretary, we hope that all the formalities will be completed by the new deadline,” they added.
