Businessman hit by iron rod, robbed of Rs 10 Lakh
New Delhi: In a robbery case, a businessman was allegedly assaulted by unidentified assailants late on Thursday night. The injured has been identified as Ravi, who used to run a dry fruits business. The victim was also robbed of Rs 10.15 lakh. The police suspect that it may be a case of road-rage-cum- robbery.
The police said that the incident took place at Swarn cinema traffic junction near 60-foot road on Thursday evening. The injured, identified as Ravi, 30, a resident of Rohini, runs a business of dry fruits in Kahri Baoli. He was returning home in his car when the gang of four on bikes struck at the 30-year-old businessman.
In his complaint to the police, Ravi alleged that while he was on his way home, two bike-borne men allegedly signalled Ravi and told that there is a petrol leakage in his car. However, Ravi, ignored their warning and continued to drive further. He had reached just a few meters away when two more youths travelling on another bike intercepted Ravi and reprimanded him to come out. When Ravi got out from his car and enquired as to why he has been asked to stop, the two picked-up quarrel with Ravi. Meanwhile, one of the assailants charged Ravi with an iron rod, following which Ravi collapsed on the road.
He further charged that the gang members, who also were armed with pistols, brandished the weapon at him before fleeing from the spot and also took away his bag, containing Rs 10.15 lakh in cash. Somehow, Ravi managed to get to the jurisdictional police station at around 9 pm and lodged a complaint in this connection.
