Fearing high cut-offs in DU, aspirants keep options open

NEW DELHI: Taking a preventive step to pursue their under graduation, the students who were in a dilemma due to low percentage are looking beyond the Delhi University and have opted for other universities like Jamia Millia Islamia, Ambedkar University and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP).

Last year, admissions were closed in majority of the colleges of Delhi university at 95 per cent due to which the average students suffered but this time students are considering other universities in Delhi if they fail to get a seat in DU.

One of the students from Delhi, Swati Santa, who scored 87 per cent in Class XII said: “Apart from applying in English honours in DU, I have also applied to three other universities like IP University, Ambedkar University and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) as the cutoff percentage seems to be very high this year as compared to last year.”

“If I do not get a good DU college, I’m considering joining one of these universities,” she added.

There are many other universities like Indraprastha University, Ambedkar, Jamia Millia as well as Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and School of Open Learning (SOL) in Delhi University, in the national capital in which students can apply in plenty of courses offered by these universities.
