Delhi: Three held for running interstate drug cartel

The Delhi police's special cell has been working on developing information about various drug cartels.

New Delhi: The Delhi police has arrested three men for allegedly running an interstate drug cartel and seized heroin worth Rs 20 crore, on Wednesday.

The Delhi police’s special cell has been working on developing information about various drug cartels. The police found that drugs were being procured in bulk quantity from Manipur. They were being brought to Delhi through different routes including Bareilly and Uttar Pradesh, said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (Special Cell).

The drugs were then supplied in small quantities to other Delhi based suppliers and peddlers, he added. It was found that a man named Rajesh alias Raje (39), who works as a carrier and brings heroin to Delhi had procured a big consignment of heroin from Bareilly.

It was also found that a part of the consignment was to be delivered to a man named Deepak (35), the kingpin of the gang, near Vivekanand College, said the DCP. Rajesh was nabbed on July 23 and three kilogram of heroin was seized from him while Deepak was arrested on July 24 near Cross River Mall in Surajmal Vihar.

Meanwhile, Deepak’s associate Sunil (29) was arrested near Ganda Nala, Vijay Vihar.
