Cops bust gang of robbers in East Delhi
New Delhi: With the arrest of two persons, the Delhi police busted a gang of notorious robbers operating in East Delhi The police recovered ten robbed mobile phones and a stolen motorcycle from their possession, said the police on Saturday.
On Friday, the police received secret information about a gang of robbers operating in East Delhi. Taking note of the information, a trap was laid down. The informer named Anoop and Aakash, who were active members of the gang, which was operated by a man named Sanjay.
“They would rob phones and money from people walking in the parks and on the roads. They would carry out these robberies on a stolen mortorcycle. They would sell the expensive phones to a dealer in Trilokpuri and the cheaper one’s to labour class persons on the pretext of emergency requirement of money without telling them the truth,” said a senior police official.
They disclosed they would rob mobile phones and cash from people walking in the parks and on the roads. The accused revealed that they had come to ‘Praachin Shiv Mandir’ to sell the stolen mobile phones to the labour class persons at cheaper rates. On further interrogation they told the police that they would sell mobiles that were expensive to a dealer in Trilokpuri who further sells the phones at higher rates.
“They wanted to make easy money to live a lavish life style.They would generally rob mobile phones and money from people walking in the parks and on the roads. They would also carry out these robberies on a stolen mortorcycle. They would sell the expensive phone they stole to a dealer in Trilokpuri and the cheaper one’s to labour class persons at cheaper rates on the pretext of emergency requirement of money without telling them the truth,” said a senior police official.
