Dense fog in Delhi, 31 flights delayed
New Delhi: Delhiites on Tuesday woke up to a chilly morning with a dense layer of fog enveloping most parts of the city which delayed 31 flights and 40 trains.
The visibility was recorded at 50 metres at 5.30 am at Palam which increased to 200 metres at 8.30 am, said a Met department official.
At Safdarjung, visibility remained constant at 400 metres between 5.30 am-8.30 am.
According to a senior Railway official, 40 trains were running late by several hours.
Flight operations were affected as the arrival and departure of almost 31 international and domestic flights was delayed, according to the Delhi Airport website.
"Few flights were delayed due to bad weather conditions. The visibility was poor specially from 6 AM to 7.30 AM, as a result of which, a few departures were delayed. However, there were no cancellations or diversions," said an airport official.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.3 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average.
According to a MeT department official, the humidity oscillated between 55 per cent and 100 per cent.
Met office has forecast clear skies for today with dense to moderate fog expected tomorrow morning.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 22.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was pegged at 9.8 degrees Celsius.
