Police foil bid to rob aged couple's home, 4 arrested
New Delhi: The Southeast police arrested four pesons for attempting to rob a senior citizen’s house. They said that the prime accused had wanted to clear his debt taken to pay for the expenses incurred during his Dubai trip.
With his arrest, two countrymade pistols, two live cartridges and one button knife were recovered.
The accused have been identified as Ram Kumar alias Sohan Kumar (31), Rohit (19) Deepak Kumar (24) and Rahul (19).
The police said that on December 25, the AATS staff received specific information that some men, who planned to rob the aged couple’s home, will assemble in a park near DDA Flat Pocket 11, Kalkaji and may be carrying illegal weapons. On receipt of the information, a police team was constituted and a trap was laid near the Kalkaji park.
At 2:15pm, four persons, two each on a motorcycle and Activa scooty came to the park. The police team, which hid on the park’s outer periphery, overpowered and apprehended the men on motorcycle and scooty, while they were trying to escape.
A countrymade pistol and one live cartridge was recovered from the possession of Ram Kumar, one country made pistol with one live cartridge was recovered from Rohit’s possession, one button knife was recovered from the possession of Deepak.
Upon verification, the Activa scooty they were riding on was stolen from Shakarpur in October.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they were unemployed and in order to earn quick money they planned to commit a robbery.
