MLA foils thak-thak' gang bid to steal phone
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Seelampur, Haji Ishraq, was targetted by a member of a thak-thak gang, whose attempt to rob the mobile phone of the legislator failed as he fought back and chased away the snatcher.
Ishraq later filed a complaint with the police and investigation was taken up to arrest the snatcher, said a police officer. However, no FIR has been lodged in the case yet.
The MLA, along with his brother and some companions, was going to attend a wedding ceremony when the incident took place near the traffic red light at Dharmpura.
The snatcher first collided with the SUV in which the MLA was travelling and asked those inside to open the window. When the glass was rolled down, the snatcher tried to flee away with the mobile phone of Ishraq that was kept on dashboard.
However, the MLA and those with him acted promptly and chased the person, foiling the attempt of the snatcher as the mobile slipped out of his hands during the commotion, said the officer.
A case has been registered and investigation has been launched to arrest the santcher, he added.
