Condition of 4 kids hurt in school van mishap critical
New Delhi: The condition of four of the 17 children injured in a milk tanker-school van collision near the Kanhaiya Nagar Metro station on Thursday is critical, the police said on Friday. They are in the ICU of AIIMS.
The driver of the milk tanker, Sanjeev (38), who has been arrested, told the police that he had consumed liquor at a wedding around 2 am. The police had said the alcohol content in his blood was found to be 195mg/100ml. He lost control of the vehicle as he was drunk, and the milk tanker rammed into the school van coming from the wrong side.
The police said the four students, who are in the ICU at AIIMS, suffered multiple fractures in the accident that claimed the life of a seven-year-old girl and injured 17 other students. Four children have been discharged and nine are undergoing treatment, but are out of danger.
The city government had on Thursday ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
