Speeding Audi rams auto in Ghaziabad, kills 4
Ghaziabad: Four persons, including two techies, lost their lives when a speeding Audi hit an autorickshaw in a head-on collision in the Indirapuram area on the midnight of Friday and Saturday.
The SUV was moving in a high speed and the driver fled from the scene immediately after the mishap. All four occupants of the auto died on the spot. It is said that the Audi’s speed was somewhere around 160 km/hr, said a senior police official.
The accident occurred near Avenue Chauraha on the divider less road along the Hindon canal. The road connects Delhi’s Khoda and Ghaziabad’s Vaishali areas.
The dead have been identified as Yajuvendra Singh Sengar (40), his cousin Vishal Singh (25), and their family friend Rinku Yadav (38), who worked with HCL in Noida. All of them hail from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
The auto driver, Sanjeev Kumar (25), also died on the spot. He lived with his wife and three-year-old daughter in Khoda Colony. Vishal, accompanied by his elder cousin Yajuvendra, had come to appear for a job interview that was scheduled by Rinku at her workplace. They were staying at Rinku’s place in Noida Sector 12-22. “On Friday night, all of them were returning to Noida in an auto after meeting their relative in Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad. Vishal’s marriage was fixed recently with a girl in Unnao, a city near Kanpur. He was desperately looking for a job in Noida to settle down after marriage,” said Narendra Singh, a relative of Vishal. “Yajuvendra is survived by his wife and two sons aged 8 and 12 years. Rinku was staying alone in Noida for the last two years. Rinku, Vishal, and Yajuvendra live in the same locality in Kanpur and their families have known each other well for the past several years. On December 28 last year, she lost her mother. Her father is a retired person from the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). She didn’t marry as her mother was not keeping well since 2006. After her mother’s death, we were suggesting that she get married and settle down. All the three families are devastated,” said a relative of the deceased.
Locals said that they heard a loud sound and witnessed two persons getting out of the Audi. “I rushed to the spot and found three persons trapped inside an auto-rickshaw, while one man was lying on the road. By that time the policemen had also arrived. With the help of other passersby, the victims were pulled out from the auto-rickshaw. There was no pulse in any of them, it seems all died on the spot,” said Gangaram, a local. A senior police official said the car belongs to an associate professor of Safdarjung Hospital.
