Man loses wallet on Metro, gets it back by post
New Delhi: He is one lucky man who lost his wallet while travelling on the Delhi Metro and got it delivered by the postman — all thanks to a good samaritan.
Normally things lost on the Metro never make their way back to the owner, but Gurpreet Singh’s, 24, case was different.
Thanks to Mr Singh’s widely shared Facebook post, he received his wallet by post 11 days after he lost his wallet on March 15.
Mr Singh said, “On March 26, I received a parcel from India Post, which contained my wallet and a letter.”
It was from one Siddharth Mehta, a Noida resident, who had sent the parce. The parcel contained my wallet with the money and documents intact and a letter, Mr Singh said.
“I found your wallet on the Delhi Metro and I am sending you the same,” read the letter, accompanying the wallet. “Be careful next time brother,” wrote Mr Siddharth, signing off with a smiley.
Mr Singh’s post to thank Mr Siddharth has collected many positive comments praising Mr Siddharth.
Recollecting, Mr Singh said, “I was travelling to Lajpat Nagar from the Central Secretariat Metro station. I was the last one to deboard at Lajpat Nagar Metro station when I suddenly realised that I lost my wallet.”
Mr Singh immediately went to the customer care and was told to wait for a few minutes till the Metro reached its final stop at Sarita Vihar. After searching the length and breadth of the train, the Metro officials did not find his wallet.
