New Delhi: Two men were apprehended by CISF officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Saturday for allegedly trying to smuggle five mini gold bars worth Rs 18.6 lakh, an official said.

Gurusharan Singh (35) and Anup Singh were held when they were exchanging the gold bars, a CISF spokesperson said.

He said Gurusharan was intercepted when he was undergoing frisking before boarding a flight to Amritsar. He had landed here from Bangkok earlier in the day.

The security personnel detected a few metal pieces in his waist belt and hence he was asked to undergo a detailed scan that led to the recovery of five mini gold bars weighing 626 grammes, the spokesman said.
