Delhi cops dismiss CM Kejriwal claims on law & order
New Delhi: Seeking to debunk CM Arvind Kejriwal’s claim that the law and order situation in high-security Lutyens’ zone has deteriorated, the Delhi police on Wednesday claimed the heinous offences in the district have shown a decline by almost half.
In a letter written to all resident welfare associations in his constituency New Delhi, the chief minister had said a large number of residents had complained of deteriorating law and order situation and that he had sought an appointment with the L-G to discuss the same.
However, according to statistics shared by the police, heinous cases have declined from 76 in 2016 to 25 this year in the corresponding period from January to May.
The solving percentage has also increased from 37 to 80 per cent. Robbery cases also declined from 45 to seven cases while solving percentage has increased from 12 per cent to 17 per cent, the police said.
According to officials, all rape, dacoity and mu-rder cases have been wo-rked out. Snatching cas-es have seen a minor decline from 102 to 98 ca-ses this year. They also claimed that riot cases have declined from nine to two this year.
Officials from the New Delhi district claimed that bicycle patrolling around public parks and special pickets to check snatching, robbery and burglary have led to this decline.
