BJP defends IAS officer attacked by AAP leader

The AAP had accused Mr Ashwini Kumar of corruption and stalling development works.

New Delhi: The Delhi BJP on Thursday came out in defence of PWD secretary Ashwini Kumar, who is under the attack of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Delhi BJP chief, Manoj Tiwari, has condemned the false charges and administrative action against Mr Kumar by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Mr Tiwari said that on one hand Mr Kejriwal favours and protects dishonest officers like Rajender Kumar, while on the other hand he is trying to obstruct transparent development works being executed by sincere officers like Ashwini Kumar, who is concerned about the development of Delhi.

“The AAP government of Delhi has become synonymous to corruption and Mr Kejriwal’s action against Mr Kumar has again proved that he will not care about the trust of the people of Delhi,” added Mr Tiwari.

Mr Tiwari alleged that Mr Kejriwal will protect officers and ministers involved in corruption but conspire to harass officials like the PWD secretary, who is working for giving relief to lakhs of people of East Delhi, by approving a mega scheme like the Shastri Park flyover.

The AAP, on Monday, accused Mr Kumar of corruption and stalling development works.
