Travel firm job racket busted, 2 arrested
New Delhi: Two men were arrested for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing them jobs in tour and travel firms, the police said on Friday.
Those arrested were identified as Mohammad Burhan (22) and Aditya Singh (25), they said. Based on a complaint filed by a man, a case was registered on June 26.
The victim had approached a private company after seeing its advertisement in a reputed newspaper about jobs in tour and travel firms, the police said.
When he contacted the company, a woman named Sikha asked him to deposit Rs 33,000.
In his complaint, the victim claimed that he also received an appointment letter which was later found to be fake, said deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse.
Burhan, who used to run a SIM card shop, was nabbed from Delhi’s Anand Parbat area.
During interrogation, he told the police about a man named Aditya who used to visit his shop to purchase SIM cards, the DCP said. He told the police that Aditya’s uncle was running a fraudulent recruitment agency. Burhan used to take Rs 500 for providing SIM cards on fake ID. Subsequently, Aditya was arrested when he visited his shop to purchase more SIM cards, the senior officer said.
Aditya told the police that his uncle Kunal and aunt Nisha were running the company and have duped many unemployed people.
