CBI lodges FIR against city PWD minister

The agency recently lodged an FIR to probe the alleged irregularities in the appointment of Dr Aggarwal as OSD to Jain.

New Delhi: The CBI, probing the alleged irregularities in awarding contracts by PWD of Delhi government involving health minister Satyendra Jain, has decided to seek clarification from two PWD officials in regard with the alleged irregularities in hiring 24 architects to set up a creative team for the PWD.

The agency recently lodged an FIR to probe the alleged irregularities in the appointment of Dr Aggarwal as OSD to Mr. Jain.

The central probe agency is also investigating the role of Mr Jain in some other contracts pertaining to the health department as well.

According to sources, the agency recently scrutinised all documents pertaining to the Public Works Department’s (PWD) decision to hire architects through a detective agency as part of its probe into the matter.

The agency has decided to seek clarifications from two senior PWD officials, sources said.

It ay be noted Mr Jain is also holding additional charge of the PWD.

It is alleged that Mr Jain tweaked the tender documents to facilitate the contract for hiring 24 professionals to work on Mohalla clinics and other PWD projects, sources said.

Preliminary probe by the CBI revealed the detective agency was ineligible for bidding, but the health minister tweaked the tender process
to bring it on board, they added. Besides, the CBI is planning to question certain health department officials in regard with the alleged irregularities.

The agency said that there are alleged irregularities n appointment of Dr Nikunj Aggarwal as Jain’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD.)

“There are allegations that Dr Aggarwal was appointed as senior resident (ortho) in Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalya on ad hoc basis on Aug.10, 2015 even though there was no vacancy for the post.

Within few days of Dr Aggarwal’s appointment, his services were requisitioned for appointment as OSD to Mr Jain. As per the residency scheme, the resident doctors are engaged for working in hospitals, and not for other duties, sources said.
