Sheila Dikshit rules out tieup, says will try to win all LS seats

Dikshit said her party was going to unitedly take on the anti-secular forces in Delhi.

New Delhi: Ruling out any possible tieup with the AAP, state Congress president Sheila Dikshit said that her party will try to secure a win on its own in all the seven Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 parliamentary elections in the national capital. She added that she would also like the party’s newly- appointed general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi, to campaign in the city in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Praising Congress president Rahul Gandhi for stating that his party would guarantee a minimum income to the poor in the country if his party was voted to power, Ms Dikshit said that this was perhaps a historic measure that would immensely help the poor across the country.

Asked what was the guarantee that Congress would fulfil such a promise after winning the elections, Ms Dikshit said that it was BJP which has not fulfilled any of its promises it made during the elections.

“We are committed to fulfil each and every promise we make to our electorate,” she said.

Asked whether the party would join hands with AAP to take on the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, Ms Dikshit said it would be a triangular contest.

“As of now, there is nothing of this sort. We will try to secure victory in all the seven parliamentary seats,” she said.

Ms Dikshit said her party was going to unitedly take on the anti-secular forces in Delhi.

“There are no differences in our party. We will contest together in the Lok Sabha polls,” she stated.
