AI flight develops snag, all 188 passengers safe
NEW DELHI: An Air India (AI) flight bound for Srinagar, which developed a technical snag, had an emergency landing on Sunday at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The flight having 188 passengers on board landed safely at the Delhi airport.
“Full emergency was declared at the Delhi airport at 10.44am, Airport Operation Command Centre (AOCC) informed that a full emergency declared for AI flight departure due to a balloon stuck in the engine.
Later at 10.56 am, the flight with all passengers safely landed on runway 28/10 of IGI Airport and the emergency was terminated at about 11.14am,” said the airport sources.
According to deputy commissioner of police (IGI Airport) Sanjay Bhatia, the incident occurred at around 10.30am.
“AI flight No. 825, from New Delhi to Srinagar, returned to IGI due to an engine snag. The flight landed safely at 10.58 am with all passengers on board,” Mr Bhatia said.

Earlier on June 9 last year, passengers on AI flight travelling to Jammu had near escape when the tyres of the plane burst upoon landing at the Jammu
airport.
Reportedly, the aircraft was bound for Srinagar and had stopped at Jammu to drop some of the passengers. Luckily, the passengers weren’t injured during the
incident.
There have been several AI flights that had emergency landings in the past few months. A few days ago an AI flight AI-476 flying from Jodhpur to Delhi was diverted after the crew detected a technical issue.
Similarly, the AI-476, carrying around 158 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at the Jaipur airport on April 7. Reportedly, the crew remained information regarding a landing gear issue.
