Undertrial shot at outside trial court

Narwal said the Haryana police had brought Dinesh, a sharpshooter of the Gogi gang, to the court.

New Delhi: A 17-year-old boy opened fire at a notorious gangster outside a trial court in Delhi on Tuesday afternoon. The juvenile was caught on the spot outside the Tis Hazari court in north Delhi, police said.

Gangster Dinesh Path-ak, who was injured, is an accused in the murder of Haryana folk singer Harshita Dahiya in October last year.

According to the police, an inmate of Rohtak Jail was injured when a member of a rival gang allegedly shot at him outside the Tis Hazari court.

Deputy commissioner of police Jatin Narwal said the accused, a minor, was apprehended while fleeing from the site. The injured inmate Dinesh is being treated at a hospital.

Narwal said the Haryana police had brought Dinesh, a sharpshooter of the Gogi gang, to the court.

According to the information, Dinesh, a sharpshooter and a dreaded gangster, was the main accused in the Harshita Dahiya murder case. He plotted her murder. Dahiya was his sister-in-law.

Last year, some unknown assailants stopped her car near Panipat and shot eight bullets at the folk singer. At that time, Dinesh was in Rohtak Jail.

Dinesh’s wife in her statement also alleged that her husband was the main conspirator of her sister’s murder. At his behest, Jitender, Kuldeep and others attacked the singer.

Police said the teenager fired at Dinesh when he and two other undertrials were brought to the court premises on Tuesday afternoon.

Police are investigating the incident.
