New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a woman was thrashed, stripped and paraded naked in full public view by a group of women in Southwest Delhi’s Palam area on Friday.
The tragic part was that none of the onlookers came to the aid victim, who was pleading for help. They kept recording the entire incident.
Senior police officials are silent over the matter and are refusing to speak about matter.
However, police sources confirmed that a complaint in this regard has been filed at Palam police station. The mob did not intervene as they thought that it was their personal matter. After the incident, the victim, who is in depression, has sought justice from the police.
The victim lives in a rented accommodation in the area. Her landlady is a widow; she has abandoned her son and his wife due to their behaviour.
“The women who tore her clothes and paraded her naked “is a family member of the victim’s landlord”, according to the police.
They said that the landlady’s daughter-in-law doubted that the victim wanted to usurp her property and so decided to teach her a lesson. “The accused woman doubted that her mother-in-law was intentionally keeping the victim as tenant. The daughter-in-law doubted that her husband and the victim were in an alleged relationship and so came with 4-5 women, thrashed the victim, tore her clothes and paraded her naked,” police sources said.
The victim said the daughter-in-law came with a cop who asked the victim to step outside as he received a complaint. As soon as she came out, she was attacked. The victim shouted for help, but neither the cop, nor the people, who gathered at the spot, helped her.
“All became mute spectators and kept recording the humiliation I was going through,” the victim said. She also alleged that the cops were not even ready to listen to her complaint and also threatened her landlady. “My landlady is a senior citizen; the cops threatened her,” she alleged.
When approached, the police only said that they were looking into the matter.
