New Delhi: The government doctors in Delhi will agitate against NMC Bill on February 6, which could affect health services in the city.

The National Medical Commission Bill (NMC), which was tabled in Parliament in December and was later sent to a parliamentary standing committee, seeks to replace the Medical Commission of India with another body and also proposes allowing practioners of alternative medicines, such as homoeopathy and ayurveda, practise allopathy after completing a “bridge course”.

The doctors said they have planned a protest on next Tuesday in opposition of the bill.

Student Council of LHMC and the Resident Doctors’ Association, and associated hospitals held a protest against the Bill inside the premises.

“We strongly condemn implementation of the bill which will disrupt the health care system,” said the Dr Vivek Chouksey, the FORDA president.
