AI jet suffers tyre burst, CAPF men escape unhurt

New Delhi: Over 140 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel onboard of Char-tered arrival flight on Thursday afternoon had a providential escape as two rear tyres of the aircraft bursted during landing at the IGI Airport runway number 29/11. The flight operation was suspended at the said runway for one hour.

“On Thursday, at about 12:18 PM, runway No. 29-11 was closed after two rear tyres of Chartered arrival flight No. AI-3426 (Srinagar-Jammu-Delhi) busted while landing on runway ” said the sources. At about 12:25 pm Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) info-rmed that at about 12:18 pm a charted flight AI-3426 that was arriving from J&K to Delhi, while flight was landing on runway 29/11, two rear tyres were burst and runway was being stuck and closed.

All the passengers were safe and suffered no injury. They were shifted to arrival hall by bus. The flight operation was resumed at runway number 29/11 from 1:26 PM onwards.

“The aircraft was chartered. All the passengers aboard have since been moved out safely from the aircraft. The runway is being cleared by towing away the aircraft stranded there,” the official said. All the safety procedures were followed were follow to avoid any unwanted situation and runway number 29/11 was declared safe to resume the service, said the sources.
