Delhi traffic police challan car owners after Dusu election video

The police personnel are on their toes till September 12, which is the day for voting.

New Delhi: Campaigning for Dusu elections created ruckus on South Delhi roads. The Delhi traffic police challaned the vehicle owners for dangerous driving, after a video showing some men sitting on car windows and the roof went viral on social media on Wednesday, the police said.

The video shows the men sitting on the windows of the cars with loud music playing in them near Lodhi road. Some of the men were also sitting on top of the car.

The men were on their way to a South Delhi college, campaigning in support of ABVP’s Ankiv Basoya for election, sources said.

Following the video went viral, the Delhi traffic police has issued challans against the owners under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, for dangerous driving, said a senior police officer.

One of the vehicles had a Haryana registration number while one of them had a Delhi registration number, he add-ed.

The third vehicle’s registration number is not known yet, he said, adding efforts are on to identify the men.

Further, it has been learned that the Delhi police is on strict vigil and has been in constant touch with the college administration to tackle the unforeseen circumstances, which could happen during the Dusu elections.

The police personnel are on their toes till September 12, which is the day for voting.
