Two stabbed to death in Mangolpuri

The assailants also attacked Karamvir's neighbour, Dinesh (38), when he came to the former's rescue, the officer added.

New Delhi: It was a bloody Wednesday for Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri where two incidents of stabbing were reported in two different areas.

In one of the incidents, two persons were stabbed to death, while five persons sustained injuries after they were attacked by unknown assailants on Wednesday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Karamvir (42) and Dinesh (38). The unidentified assailants also attacked five others, leaving them injured.

The police said the incident took place in Mangolpuri at around 10.30 pm when two armed persons, with their faces covered, started attacking pedestrians with knives.

It is suspected that the reason behind this gruesome attack was personal enmity. Further, it was also said that the accused had gone to attack someone else. However, when they didn’t find their target, they started attacking locals and pedestrians.

The attackers abused Karamvir, who was standing outside his residence. When he reacted to the abuse, they stabbed him, a senior police officer said.

The assailants also attacked Karamvir’s neighbour, Dinesh (38), when he came to the former’s rescue, the officer added.

“Both were taken to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries,” the officer said.

The police has detained some youths, including two juveniles, in this regard and an investigation is underway.

“Dinesh was returning home from work when the incident took place. The attackers threatened others and also stabbed five of them before escaping,” a local resident alleged.

He said that no one confronted the attackers as they were armed with knives. Some claimed that they were carrying pistol too.

In a similar incident on Wednesday night, a DJB employee was stabbed by someone outside his house in a different block of Mangolpuri area.

The victim, Suresh, was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

Sources said the victim had a verbal spat with someone outside his house. Subsequently, the accused stabbed him and fled from the spot.
