Nagaland cop dies of dengue, toll up to 4
New Delhi: One more death due to dengue was reported by the municipal authorities in Delhi, taking the official toll due to vector-borne diseases this season to four.
Twenty-six-year-old Moajeba, a jawan of Nagaland armed police, was posted in Delhi for special duty. He was admitted to Max Super Speciality Hospital on August 17 and succumbed to the disease on August 20.
As per official records, this is the fourth death due to dengue in the national capital. Earlier, in the first dengue death reported by the MCDs this year, a 12-year-old boy had succumbed to the disease. Two more deaths were reported on October 16 by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), which tabulates data for the entire city.
The hospitals, however, have reported more deaths due to the vector-borne disease but those remain unaccounted for in the municipal data.
Meanwhile, at least 753 fresh dengue cases were recorded in the city in the last one week, taking the total number of cases to 6623. Of these, 2,884 cases were reported by residents of Delhi while the rest were from other states who had come to the city for treatment. The number of malaria and chikungunya cases recorded in the city till the fourth week of October stood at 1,082 and 752 respectively.
