New Delhi: Delhi lieutenant government Anil Baijal on Saturday inspected areas of East Delhi and also took stock of the development works underway at NH 24. Mr Baijal instructed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to complete ongoing work on NH 24 within the time frame with proper road making, lighting and other related work.

During the inspection, EDMC commissioner Dr Ranbir Singh, chairman of NHAI, Deepak Kumar; Principal Secretary, Urban Development Authority and PWD, Renu Sharma and Commissioner, DDA (Land) Rajeev Verma were also present.

Besides, other senior officials of NHAI, DDA and EDMC were also present during the inspection.

Mr Baijal further directed that bus-lane be developed on the NH 24 for better convenience of citizens. NHAI chairman Mr Kumar assured the L-G that all development works on the highway road as per his direction would be completed before January 26.

After inspecting progress of ongoing work at NH-24, Mr Baijal also inspected Vikas Marg, Pushta Road and Ring Road and directed the senior officials concerned of PWD for carrying on beautification of the road through hanging plants, artwork on walls, ensuring proper lighting and signages.

Officials of the PWD ensured the L-G that all these works would be completed by January 15.

 Later on, Mr Baijal inspected, beautification work of Seelampur flyover done by the EDMC.

He also appreciated the NGO ‘Netritatva’ which led the artwork on this flyover  

The L-G also appreciated the EDMC for removing encroachment around the flyover and suggested the EDMC commissioner, Dr Singh, to outsource the maintenance of beautification work of Seelampur flyover. Dr Singh informed the L-G that the beautification work of the flyover has been completed with a cost of Rs 20 lakh. Dr Singh further informed the L-G that there are total 22 flyovers and of them five have been identified for beautification purpose.
