Puri (Odisha): Taking law into their own hands, residents of Bentapur on Thursday chained a youth to a motorcycle and dragged him to the police station for misbehaving with a woman. The matter came to fore after the video of the incident went viral.

According to reports, the youth, Ramesh Bhoi was harassing a married woman over the telephone for the last eight days. Perturbed over repeated harassment, the relatives of the woman decided to teach the ‘unknown caller’ a lesson.

As per plans, the woman’s family members laid a trap by luring the youth to meet her at a place at Bentapur and nabbed him when he arrived at the spot. Followi-ng this, they tied Ramesh to a motorcycle and dragged him for nearly 1.5 km to the nearest police station. “He has been harassing my sister-in-law for quite some time.

Despite cautioning him, he continued to his indecent act. He even hurled abusive languages at us when we confronted him over his behaviour. With no option left, we tried to hand him over to police. We chained him as he tried to flee after being caught by us,” said the victim’s brother-in-law.
