One dies, three wounded in e-way accident
Pune: One person died and three others were injured when the car they were travelling in plunged into a valley along the Pune -Mumbai Expressway early on Wednesday. The car’s driver died in the accident. The accident took place as the car was running at a high speed and the driver, who is suspected to have been inebriated, had hit a tree along the road before the vehicle fell into a water canal down the road, according to the police.
The deceased is identified as Sandip Bhagwan Shinde, (60) from Beed. The injured are Subhash Sahebrao Jagtap (70), Kisan Jathar (71) and Muktaram Kisan Taware (71) from Beed.
According to police officials, four of them were travelling from Mumbai to Pune in an Innova Car (MH23 AK3888) at around 2-3 am on August 2. A.S. Bhandare, police sub-inspector, Highway Traffic Police, Pune, said, “The car was being driven at a high speed. The driver must have lost his control over the wheels due to the high speed or he was sleepy. The car hit a tree at the roadside along the way near near the Khandala exit. It got overturned and fell into the water canal. The accident was so horrible that the driver died on the spot.”
Mr Bhandare further said, “We received a call about the accident at around 3 am. We reached the spot and immediately moved four of them to a civil hospital in Lonavla. One of them was declared brought dead while the other three were injured. We immediately shifted them to Lokmanya Hospital in Nigdi for further treatment.”
