Criminal held after shootout in Gurgaon
New Delhi: A man wanted in connection with several criminal cases was arrested on Tuesday night following an encounter in which the accused was injured, said the Gurgaon police on Wednesday.
A joint team of Gurgaon police and Jamshedpur police arrested him after a brief exchange of fire, in which three round were exchanged between both sides.
Following a tip-off, the police raided the guesthouse on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in Sushant Lok- 1, and during the encounter, two bullets hit Akhilesh, one on each of his legs.
Akhilesh Singh has 56 cases of murder and extortion against him. He has a bounty of '5 lakh on his head. The police has also arrested his wife Garima Singh, who created a ruckus during his arrest. An Endeavour car and one country-made pistol and one magazine has recovered from his possession.
According to the police, a team of Jamshedpur police informed the Gurgaon police that dreaded criminal Akhilesh is staying in Sushant Lok area. Soon after the information, Gurgaon police raided the area and arrested Akhilesh. Akhilesh is a resident of Jamshedpur and had entered the crime world in 2002.
