2 teachers booked over teen's suicide

Police registered the death by suicide on Monday.

Nashik: Cases have been registered against two teachers running a coaching centre for their role in a suicide of a teenage girl in Dhule city. Deopur Paschim police station sources said the suicide occurred on Monday and cases against the teachers were registered late on Monday night.

On Monday she hung herself to death in her room and the death was discovered by her friend in Pramodnagar, Sector 2 of Dhule City. Police registered the death by suicide on Monday.

However in the evening, the father of the deceased met superintendent of police M. Ramkumar and declared that she was insulted by the coaching class teachers and so she ended her life. He also claimed that his deceased daughter had stopped a NEET class in the same institute and so the teachers were angry with her and behaved insultingly with her in front of the class. Due to this mental harassment, she committed suicide, he claimed.

One of the accused was arrested at 1.30 am on Tuesday while another is reportedly absconding. The deceased (17) was among over 500 students taking science tuitions from the prestigious science coaching institute.

The police then registered case (136/2017) against the class teachers on Monday night under Section 306 of Indian Penal code and also sections of the Atrocity Act.
