Housewife stabbed to death in Bally flat
Kolkata: A housewife, Rakhi Singh, was stabbed at home in Bally, Howrah, on Monday afternoon. She later succumbed to her injuries at Calcutta Medical College and Hospital. Her home was also looted. The police initiated a case of murder and dacoity.
Rakhi stayed with her husband Ashok and their two minor daughters at a flat on the third floor of a housing apartment on G.T. Road. At around 4.30 pm, their neighbours heard Rakhi screaming for help in the flat and banging the door. When they opened the door forcibly, they found Rakhi lying in a pool of blood on the floor and one of her daughters, a five-year-old, crying. The neighbours then took Rakhi to Belur Hospital from where she was shifted to CMCH. At night, she succumbed to her injuries. The police recovered the cover of a knife. One of Rakhi’s two daughters said that “Pintu uncle” came to the flat on Monday afternoon and stabbed her mother in the throat with a knife. The police later found that the flat was vandalised while cash and jewellery have been stolen. The police suspects that Rakhi’s assailant was known to her.
