West Bengal: Former Cong MLA made PAC chairman
Kolkata: Congress MLA Shankar Singha, who had switched over to ruling Trinamool Congress a few months ago, has been appointed as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the West Bengal assembly.
“Shankar Singha has been appointed as the chairman of PAC of the state assembly,” speaker Biman Banerjee told PTI. On why Singha got the post even after joining TMC, Banerjee said, “Nobody has given me any intimation or any official communication saying that he has joined TMC. Officially he is still an MLA of Congress,”.
Singha, who had won the 2016 assembly election as a Congress candidate, had switched over to Trinamul Congress in June. The decision has miffed opposition Congress and Left Front, who said that injustice has been meted out to the opposition parties.
