Kolkata: The Indian Navy has started reaching out to the student community in the state as part of its Navy Day celebrations to inspire them to take up the Navy as a career.
While stalls are being set up at exhibitions and officers of the Naval Station Kolkata are visiting schools and colleges to deliver motivational talks to the students, two naval officers in association with the Naval Wives Welfare Association, Kolkata, vi-sited Rebecca Belilious English School in How-rah on September 19. They interacted with the students and spoke abo-ut the Navy. Another naval officer visited JIS Polytechnic Institute at Kalyani, Nadia, on Sept-ember 28 to help the eng-ineering students know about various gateways for induction in the Navy through university entry schemes and other direct entries. Similar interactions are planned in other districts of the state in forthcoming we-eks. Every year, December 4 is celebrated as the Navy Day to commemorate the successful atta-ck: Operation Trident on Pakistan’s naval assets in Karachi in 1971.
