CBI files charges against firm, two officials in chit fund scam

Kolkata: The CBI has filed its chargesheet against a chit fund firm, Angel Agritech Ltd, and its two senior officials at Barui-pur court in South 24 Parganas on Wednesday. 

Angel Agritech, the pozy scheme-based company, had collected money from investors under its schemes by fraudulently promising very high returns and later closed its operations without repaying the promised amount of around Rs 335 crore.

The chargesheet was filed before the additional chief judicial magistrate against chairman S.K. Hasibul Haque, managing director of the company S.K. Najibulla, the company and its subsidiary Angel Rural Development Ltd.

A case was registered on November 14, 2014, on the orders of the Supreme Court against the private company based in Kolkata and its directors under Sections 406 and 420.

Meanwhile, the CBI has sent another notice to former TMC leader Mukul Roy for reconstruction of crime at his South Kolkata residence in the Narada sting case. 

It had sent the first notice to him two weeks ago, but he had sought one month’s time then. This time, the Central agency has given him one week’s time to respond, sources claimed.
