TMC leader demands money for college admissions, held
Kolkata: The detective department (DD) of the Kolkata police arrested a young Trinamul Congress leader on late Sunday night, for allegedly demanding money from the students for their college admissions. Titan Saha, the accused, is associated with the ruling party’s student wing: Trinamul Chhatra Parishad.
He was earlier the general secretary of the student union at Jaipuria College, according to sources. In some photos which appered after his arrest, suggested, Titan’s rapport with state transport minister Subhendu Adhikary and Saradha scam accused former minister Madan Mitra.
The DD got a whiff about the accused after it received several complaints against him soon after it circulated its message on the social media few days ago appealing for the victims to lodge complaints of extortion for college admission. Titan was caught from his home at Sisir Bhaduri Sarani during a raid.
The investigators suspect that he used to run a racket in exchange of hefty amount of money with his aides who have gone into hiding however. Meanwhile, the police also recovered admission forms, admit cards and other documents required for admission from the home of Ratul Dutta who is a group D staff of Surendranath College in Sealdah.
