Government projecting GJM chief as anti-national, says Dilip Ghosh

Mr Dilip Ghosh has also lashed out at the government for some Gorkha Janmukti Morcha workers' death in police firing recently.

Kolkata: Rallying support behind the absconding Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) chief Bimal Gurung, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh once again claimed on Saturday that Mr Gurung was being projected as an anti-national by the Mamata Banerjee government.

“Those who are in a movement in Darjeeling are carrying national flags. But the way the state government is treating them is like they are terrorists,” Mr Ghosh alleged.

Mr Ghosh further added, “It was the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha which demanded a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the explosions in the Hills. But the state government slapped sedition charges on its leaders. The chief minister does not have power to demand the National Investigative Agency probe”.

Mr. Ghosh also said that Mr Gurung is being projected as an anti-national in whatever is happening. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha is carrying out its movement peacefully. The chief minister has failed to win the faith of the people of Darjeeling Hills which is why such incidents are still happening. The Kharagpur MLA also held Ms Banerjee responsible for the unrest.

Mr Dilip Ghosh has also lashed out at the government for some Gorkha Janmukti Morcha workers’ death in police firing recently. Meanwhile state Congress president Adhir Chowdhury was left wondering why the Darjeeling deadlock could not be resolved when the Doklam stand-off between India and China was settled.
