Two die in queue waiting to withdraw pension money

The harassment of the common people continued even on the second day of the month as cash crunch continued to plague banks and ATMs.

Kolkata: Two senior citizens died while standing in queues for withdrawing their pension money outside banks in two districts: North and South 24 Parganas prompting chief minister Mamata Banerjee to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the demonetisation once again. The harassment of the common people continued even on the second day of the month as cash crunch continued to plague banks and ATMs.

In North 24 Parganas, Rabin Mukherjee, a resident of Machhlandapur, was standing in a queue in outside an SBI ATM in Trinamtala. Many claimed he fell ill after withdrawing Rs 2,800 after a long wait while others said the retired Central government employee suddenly fell sick while standing in the queue and collapsed. He was rushed to Habra State General Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Expressing her grief the chief minister tweeted, “Sad. Rabin Mukherjee from Maslandpur (Habra), 72 year old, former central govt employee and a pensioner collapsed today in bank queue 1/2.” She later added, “My condolences to his family. 82 lives have been lost till now. How many more lives will be lost for Modi babu #DeMonetisation”

In the afternoon another aged man died at Raidighi in South 24 Parganas while standing in a queue. The deceased, Biswadeb Naskar, was a retired primary school teacher. In the evening the chief minister tweeted again. “#DeMonetisation After Rabin Mukherji, yet another loss of life today in our state,” she said adding “Biswadeb Naskar,retd primary school teacher of Raidighi’S 24 Pgns collapsed while standing in queue to withdraw pension from bank & died”

The CM said in another tweet, “My deep condolence to the bereaved family. 84 deaths. How many more Modi Babu wants?”
