Bagnan on the boil after TMC man gunned down

The police has also initiated the probe on the murder.

Kolkata: Bagnan in Howrah has been on the boil after a young Trinamul Congress worker was gunned down late on Monday night. The ruling party accused the BJP of killing Mohammed Mohsin Khan, who was the husband of Noorunnesa Begum, a member of Trinamul ruled gram-panchayat no. 2, at Haturia.

The victim was returning home at around 10 pm through Noapara, when three miscreants came on a motorcycle and opened fire on him.

As Mohsin fell on the road, his assailants fled from the scene. To protest the killing of Mohsin, an angry Trinamul workers blocked National Highway 6 with the body. Later they went to the Bagnan police station. The body was sent for post-mortem.

The police has also initiated the probe on the murder.Mohsin was a member of the same panchayat from which his wife became a member after winning in the recent rural polls. An angry mob also torched some houses to vent their anger against the murder.

Trinamul leader of Bagnan Srikanta Sarkar alleged that Mohammed Ashraf, Mohammed Subedar and another miscreant were hired by the local BJP leader Tapan Mondal to carry out the murder.

So far three persons were arrested by the police. Trinamul minister and the party’s Howrah district president Arup Roy claimed, “Those who were the mercenaries of the CPI(M) earlier have switched to the BJP to unleash violence now.” Trinamool secretary general Partha Chatterjee alleged, “The BJP is trying to create disturbances and spread canards in the state to halt the development. Still our workers show restraint.”
