BJP keeps its doors ajar for ex-IPS officer

At a press meet in the Assembly, he argued that the party will use the same sword which the Trinamul Congress had used against them.

Kolkata: Breaking his silence over the probe against former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), state BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday keeps the door open for Ms Ghosh, for her to enter the BJP-fold.

At a press meet in the Assembly, he argued that the party will use the same sword which the Trinamul Congress had used against them.

Mr Ghosh claimed that whatever Ms Ghosh had done during the period of her service was at the behest of the Trinamul Congress. According to him, the Mamata Banerjee government has tasked the CID to ensure that Ms Ghosh keeps her mouth shut because she knows secrets of many Trinamul Congress leaders.

“As a police officer whatever Ms Ghosh did, she did it according to the wish of the Trinamul government. She had so much audacity that she did not care of any Trinamul leader in the district (West Midnapore). She got encouragement from the chief minister for this. What I have come to know from various sources, that Ms Ghosh knows innumberable secrets about many Trinamul leaders,” Mr Ghosh alleged.

The Kharagpur MLA said, “If those secrets come to light, they (Trinamul leaders) will find it tough to survive in politics. Ms Ghosh is the key witness to the killing of Maoist leader Kishenji in an encounter at a place following his abduction from elsewhere. It is heard that she has all the details about it.” The state BJP president elaborated, “That is why this government has set the CID to go after Ms Ghosh to catch her and shut her mouth. If those, who earlier acted at the behest of the Trinamul and tortured us, now want to join hands with us, we will definitely use the same sword they had used.”
