Partha: CM encouraging extortion in admissions

According to him, the Trinamul supremo's direct encouragement gave birth to the mal-practice.

Kolkata: BJP leader Mukul Roy on Saturday held chief minister Mamata Banerjee squarely responsible for the alleged rampant extortion by the Trinamul Congress’ student wing members for admission in colleges.

According to him, the Trinamul supremo’s direct encouragement gave birth to the mal-practice. Mr Roy also alleged that those who had been with the Trinamul since its days of inception have deserted the party.

“Extortion for college admission has been encouraged by Ms Banerjee. She passed the accused as young boys who can commit mistakes also. Thus she allowed it only. Situation has become such that there is no place where money is not demanded for a student’s admission. Ms Banerjee called upon her party workers to earn this way asking them to deposit 75 per cent of their earnings to the party while keeping 25 per cent for themselves.,” the BJP leader alleged.

He claimed, “So it is obvious this will be the way of earning. And if earnings come, such incidents will also take place. This is Ms Banerjee’s failure.”

Comparing the CPI(M)’s strength with the ruling party Mr Roy argued, “The CPI(M) had the manpower. But the Trinamul does not have it anymore. It is now suffering from inferiority complex. It does not have its own

people. Those who had fought the CPI(M) and built the Trinamul are quitting now.”

The BJP leader was speaking on the sidelines of a blood donation camp organised by the party at Basudebpur More in Shyamnagar of North 24 Parganas.

Mr Roy, who was earlier with the Trinamul, added, “That is why the Trinamul have to take outsiders on rent like sometimes Manas Bhuniya or Ritabrata Banerjee. Those who brought the Trinamul in power are not with it anymore.”

On PM Narendra Modi’s rally in West Midnapore on July 16 he observed that not even a year is left for the Lok Sabha Elections. Mr Roy informed that Mr Modi will address the farmers at the rally as part of the BJP’s campaign

for the next year’s polls. He added that BJP president Amit Shah has already kickstarted the poll-preparations during his recent visit to the state.
