Sonika's mother accuses Bikram of drunk driving
Kolkata: For the first time since model-actor Sonika Singh Chauhan’s death in a car crash a week ago, her mother Sharon Singh broke her silence on Monday and blamed Sonika’s actor friend Bikram Chatterjee, who was allegedly driving his car at a high speed, for her death.
In a Facebook post, Ms Singh wrote, “We need answers and we have not got any... why? what? how? She took the decision to trust a friend and trust her life with him at the wheel why did it go so wrong... not only did it end her life... but it was clearly reckless & rash... negligence causing her life to be snatched away... she did not deserve this she was living life to the fullest, planning so much more...”
She added, “We had an angel amongst us for 27 years to show us what unconditional love was all about... From the day she was given to us till the day she was taken away it was beautiful beyond comprehension... she was our daughter Sonika Chauhan my best friend, my referee, my strength, my life, my heart, my soul, my pride and my joy, when her creator took her back to him it wasn’t with any warning, tragically & untimely she was just snatched away... it’s been an entire week today & we can’t imagine it... our hearts are broken, our lives are in turmoil, our present days are rewinded to the past days when she was with us... our home is empty...”
In the afternoon, a group of friends of Sonika held a candlelight vigil for over an hour in front of the Tollygunge police station demanding a fair probe in the car crash. Carrying placards they also called for Bikram’s questioning by the police. Bikram was granted bail by the Alipore court last week.
