CBI to quiz Saradha chief in Bhubaneswar
Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is planning to take Saradha Group owner Sudipta Sen to Bhubaneswar to interrogate him to find the links between his chit fund company and another and Rose Valley Group.
The central agency recently booked Mr Sen in another case of Saradha scam after arrested Trinamul Congress MP Sudip Bandopadhyay’s alleged link with Saradha Group came to light during the investigation in Rose Valley ponzi scheme scam.
According to sources, the CBI learnt from Mr Sen’s close aide Debjani Mukherjee’s statements that Mr Bandopadhyay held meetings with the Saradha Group owner on several occasions.
Once the probe behind Mr Bandopadhyay’s role in Rose Valley scam gets over, the CBI would take Mr Sen to the neighbouring state for grilling to know the senior Trinamul MPs connection with Saradha.
The CBI suspects that there was a common link between the two chit fund firms: Saradha and Rose Valley. The Saradha owner, already chargesheeted by the CBI in multiple cases, has been lodged in the judicial custody.
On Monday evening Debjani’s mother Sarbari Mukherjee however claimed that her daughter never took the name of Mr Bandopadhyay to the CBI during her interrogation in Saradha scam. She also protested the news about her daughter saying such.
According to her, Debjani, who has been lodged in the judicial custody, telephoned her from the Dum Dum Central Jail at around 1.30 pm on Monday.
“She said she read in newspapers and watched on TV in jail that she accused Mr Bandopadhyay,” she said.
Ms Mukherjee added, “But she told me that she neither made such allegations to the CBI nor the CBI asked her about Mr Bandopadhyay. Whatever is being said in her name is false and misleading for which she will direct her lawyers to contemplate legal steps.”
