Burdwan blast: BJP demands NIA probe
Kolkata: A BJP delegation led by Locket Chatterjee on Tuesday visited Aushgram in Burdwan East, where a Trinamul Congress party office was destroyed in an explosion. She demanded a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the matter.
In the morning, Ms Chatterjee, along with other state and district BJP leaders went to Pitchkuri where the explosion had taken place on Sunday. “We have no faith in the criminal investigation department’s probe. It’s a state agency, which has already removed the evidence from the spot. It will later claim that firecrackers were being made at the place for festival purposes,” said Ms Chatterjee.
“So the probe should be handed over to the NIA so that the truth would come out. We also want the numbers and names of those who were killed in the explosion,” she added. According to her, jihadi acitivities migh have been underway at the Trinamul party office, which was the case when the Khagragarh blast took place in the same district.
Trinamul district president of Birbhum Anubrata Mondal rejected Ms Chatterjee’s claims. “It does not matter who says what. Law will take its own course. Those who can not even pull a crowd of 5000 are making big talk,” he said.
