Partha Chatterjee asks TMC student unions to end infighting

Apparently, admission of students have become the main job of the student's union these days.

Kolkata: State education minister Partha Chatterjee on Monday directed rival factions of the Trinamul Congress students’ union to put an end to infighting and work together.

“I am seeing here two groups standing at two ends. This is not desirable. Why can’t you drown your differences and work united?” he questioned during a function organised by the TMCP student’s union at Calcutta University’s Adipose campus.

Mr Chatterjee expressed his regret over allegations of taking money on the part of students unions for admission purpose.”

Apparently, admission of students have become the main job of the student’s union these days. This should not be the case. You should give priority to merit “ the education minister said.

Mr Chatterjee expressed his displeasure with the Calcutta University lagging behind in various areas with disturbance predominating the campuses.

“Why should a place of earning turn into a place of disturbance?” he asked. He said that student politics had changed since his time. He urged students to have respect for the teachers and attend classes.
